FAQ
Medication
We do administer medication per owner instructions at no extra charge.
Vaccinations
For the safety of all of our guests, we require all dogs staying with us to be up-to-date on their rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Proof of vaccines can be either emailed to us at steephollowpetlodge@gmail.com or uploaded to your dog's online pet profile.
Food
Bring your dog's regular food, preferably in individual portions. We do have a refrigerator with a freezer for cold foods. We do not provide a house food because sudden diet changes cause gastric distress in dogs.
Special Needs
We can accommodate most dogs with special needs, depending on severity. We regularly accommodate dogs with mobility issues, seizures, incontinence, allergies, diabetes, and dementia.
Intact Dogs
We don't require your dog be spayed or neutered to stay here. However, we do not allow females to stay while they are in heat. An inconvenience fee may apply if your dog goes into heat during her stay.
Sickness
We take the health of dogs in our care very seriously. The second we think something is off, we will call you. You can provide a series of emergency contact numbers who can make decisions for you as well in case we cannot reach you. We will provide whatever care you find appropriate depending on the situation.
Storm/ Fireworks Anxiety
There are radios in each room that play calming music at night. The building is also well insulted, so, with the radio, storms and fireworks are drowned out. We are happy to accommodate dogs who need storm jackets or medication.
Evaluation Day
An evaluation day is required to determine if our facility is a good fit for you and your dog. It is a day when your dog will come in for a minimum of two hours before they can board. During this time, we will just hang out with your dog to get to know them better. We do not keep dogs that show any signs of human aggression towards our staff. If your dog is highly anxious, you may want to ask your vet about anxiety medication for the duration of their stay, or they may be more comfortable with a service that provides at home care. If your dog is aggressive toward other dogs, they won't get to participate in playgroups. A staff member will play with them individually.
Reservations
Dogs may only share a run if they get along and can eat together. If they get into a fight while sharing a run, they will be separated and you will be charged for both runs.
If you are having trouble making a reservation online, your dog's vaccines might be expired currently or will be by the reservation dates. Please call us at
(979)776-0179 for help.
Cancelations
We require 72 hours notice of cancellation for peak times like holidays and summer and 24 hours for all other times. If no notice is given, you will be charged for the stay.
Delayed Return
During peak boarding times, it is possible we won't have an available run for your dog if you cannot pick up on your scheduled pick up day. Always schedule an extra day or have a back up plan, such as a friend or family member on our files who can pick up for you.
Allowed
We provide bowls and a raised cot. You are welcome to bring beds, blankets, toys, chews, and treats.
Not Allowed
For the safety of the dogs, we do not allow rawhide chews or small toys that could pose a choking hazard. Bark correcting collars are also not allowed, because other dogs' barking will activate them.
